Background: Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is pain due to shape mismatch at the hip joint commonly affecting young athletes, and there are 2 main types depending on which bone has underlying deformity: cam (femoral) pincer (acetabular). Hip arthroscopy an invaluable technique in sports surgeon repertoire, a need for comprehensive tutorial that elucidates best practices nuances. Indications: Pain with evidence of FAI labral tear imaging, failing conservative treatment, warrants arthroscopy. Technique Description: surgery requires anatomical repair, thorough osteoplasty correct deformity prevent retearing, careful treatment soft tissues capsular closure. Results: Reduced improved function goals approximately 90% patients returning sport 6 8 months postoperatively. Discussion/Conclusion: safe effective who failed therapy.
